Personal Profile
Dr. Bin HAN graduated from Anhui Normal University (1985) and obtained Ph.D. degree from John Innes Centre, UK (1992). He is now the director of CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences (CEMPS) and National Center for Gene Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has been engaged in rice genomics, population genetics, rice genome-wide association analysis and the origin of cultivated rice domestication. His group firstly completed the sequencing of rice chromosome 4 and also firstly carried out genome-wide association analysis in rice. His achievements also include cloning and identification of the rice domestication related genes such as seed hull color and awn length, system identification of the whole genome of rice domestication loci and revealing the origin of cultivated rice and domestication processes. These studies make important contributions to rice genetics.
